Father Speech 2
I have to say, this day has come around sooner that I was expecting. I dont mean that _____ has rushed into this, of course! Its just that one day you have a brand new daughter, and the next, shes a young woman starting her own life.
I knew, right from the beginning, that _____ would be special. And she is. She's fun-loving, she's loyal and generous. And some people would say that in her father's eye, she can do no wrong. So what a tall order this father turns out to be for any prospective boyfriend! But I want to tell you I'm a contented father in law today. _____ is a perfect match, and I'm proud of my daughter for choosing so well. Actually, I always wanted to choose her husband for her. But, of course, she went ahead and did her own choosing and did a better job than I could have ever done. And it's just wonderful to see their love for each other.
I do have to acknowledge this though, ______ is perhaps not the easiest person in the world to work with when it comes to helping others. She loves spending time making the world a better place..
But I can promise you: apart from that, as you probably already know, she's just about perfect! And if she brings even half the joy into your life that she's brought ours, I know you will feel blessed.
We have so many wonderful memories,______ You really have been a joy in our life.
I want you to know how much it means to us that you've made such a success of your life. You're doing a wonderful job of every part of it. I really dont propose to offer any helpful words of advice.
And I say that for the simple reason that You two clearly dont need any. Theyre full of purpose, full of energy, and they know where exactly where their life is taking them. And so, I just want to say this: ______ and _____, thank you for making us such proud and happy parents.
So this is the toast I would like to make to you: May your love be modern enough to survive the times and old-fashioned enough to last forever.
